BATTLEGROUND INTRODUCTION
Battlegrounds are the method, to transform weak troop types into strong troop types. This is how you build your army. The battleground mechanics are based on the resource costs of the troops in the game. Always remember: resources into the battleground bank = resources out.
Building griffins and dragons is time consuming and inefficient. You get these troops in the battlegrounds. What you build in your troop lines are troops that can efficiently put resources into the battlegrounds.
What follows are the theory and steps to doing battlegrounds.
Not covered in this guide are: Stoneheart battlegrounds, quest battlegrounds, and competitive battle grounds.
STARTING OUT
Until your castle is ready, Meaning it can handle large amounts of troops, You need to prepare.. Your castle’s Barns, farms and warehouse’s should be at level 20 or higher to do advanced BG’s. Until you know the BG’s you shouldn’t be going over level 60 for most players, When you are ready, There’s are more advanced way’s to do BG’s that involve’s different technics but it’s important that you not goito high in BG level’s till that time.
BUILDING THE BATTLEGROUND BANK
Your goal is to put resources into the bank as efficiently as possible. This is done in several ways:
Using troop types that will put maximum resources into the battlegrounds. These are the troops that you build in your troop lines. It is generally accepted that the most efficient troops are pathfinders, reavers, golums, and chimera. You want your troop lines going 24/7 building these troops. No others. You get everything else that your army needs through battleground payouts.
Do NOT use legendary or special troops, eldrich (green) troops, imperial troops, or amulet troops in the battlegrounds. You do not get credit for the value of these troops.
Make the troops you send to the battlegrounds as strong as possible. Use battleground champs, use boosts, use dragon stone, hero gear. Some will say this is counter-intuitive, but it is the way it works. Most time I don’t use O or D boost unless An Event is going on.
When you’re stating out at higher BG”s make sure that your barns and warehouses are as full as possible before starting battlegrounds. Otherwise you will get a payout that is partially resources. If your just starting to understand BG’s this is ok if you need the resources to build up your farms and warehouses. For example you would want your warehouse to be full if you’re hitting a level 45 BG or higher.
GRINDING IT OUT
Or the smart game. Lots of players get a couple larger pay outs and think, Wow this is cool and try to achieve that every time they play. If you push your castle to a point that it’s not ready for or advance too fast, This can burn your account out. Many player’s have gone though this, You’ll get to a point where you not growing or take huge losses. Such as the players that have been playing for years and have nothing,
Example: If you send 600 warlocks to a level 50 BG and your reward is 1k in Dragons, You’re done for the day until BIG reset ( when you get new BG’s ) Maybe longer. Try to keep it small unless there’s a Brawl or something going on thats worth the possible loss of troops.
Being patient, learning and grinding it out gives you time to build your skills for troops, building’ s, Champ’s Etc getting you ready for the BIG payouts.
HOW TO DO BATTLEGROUNDS
First off if you have Infantry, Calvary or lower occult troops in the fortress, Get them out of there and use them ! They’re not worth saving.
The battlegrounds are found in the Eagle’s Nest. Offense battlegrounds have a red header, defense are green and quest are gold. Page through until you see the current selection that include the level you want. Select one.
Try only using infantry, cavalry, and occult units. The troops that you built in your troop lines. They all work towards your bank. Don’t use your Beastly troops until you understand how BG’s work. Make sure you select your strongest an proper champ.
WHAT WORKS FOR ME ( TOMACK )
Everyone’s got a theory, Some people do it differently and so on. What work’s for me and has gained me 100 + million in Defense in less than 2 months ( My castle was already built up with level level 20 + farms etc ) is as follows: Daily’s, ( stuff I do almost everyday ) I grow troops make sure my building are growing Etc,
BG’s: about 3 to 4 times a week I start at the lowest Bg ( As rule of thumb try not to jump around from higher to lower levels frequently ) I attack both Off and DEF until I run out of lower level troops that i’ve trained and won in events. Most day’s that gets me to around level 50 and I get a small or decent pay out along the way, that usually keeps me going till a bigger pay out come along or if you chose save those troops for another day as long as your up, it’s all good. If I happen to get lots more troops that I sent( griffins or dragons payout ) I stop. Stopping is the hardest part but usually after a large payout they happen less and get smaller so stop.
My easy rule of thumb is BG’s level 1 thru 19 I send troops equalling around 10k in power points, That will usually will defeat a BG for those levels, BG”s level 20 thru 29 I send 20K to 29 k worth O or D and so on. Basically if it’s a level 33 defensive BG I send about 33k in D to defeat it. Some BG’s have more troops there than other so this may very a little bit but this works to about level 50 then it start’s to multiply, Level 60 about 120k. So let’s say if I’m doing a BG run using my crap troops and I’m at level 40 and I only have 19k left in troops power points to send and i didn’t get a payout, I save those troops and I usually will get a payout the next day. So personally I don’t bother to send leftover’s. I save those and along with newly trained troops start again another day. Some people might send those troops to yellow line that BG till the Brawl but if you don’t have a lot of troops, Just save them.
Depending on how advanced your castle is you might only be going to Level 25 or maybe 40 a couple times a week. It’s slow and time consuming but worth it in the long run.
Brawl time or good rewarding league tournament: This is the time to push it a little bit if you want. For example: My highest undefeated BG is currently a level 194 on this account. So for me I start about level 50 and usually will make it to about level 120 or so, Depending on your level you’ll need to adjust. Also I might use some Off or Def boost at this time. Sometimes I might have to use a couple higher ranked troops but usually winning enough troops along the way to continue till I get a decent payout like 20k in demons or a couple k in griff’s and dragon’s then I stop, Usually by then I have some nice points but also have a nice jump in O and/or D that gets sent to the fortress . After the brawl and a couple day of not doing BG’s I start over with newly trained troops.
Some times I do things a little different , let’s say I want Defensive troops, I might do 5 - 10 off Bg’s then start doing Def ones to make the payout come in mostly defensive troops. Usually the Bg’s that you take down is going to give you more if not all troops of that class.
After you get used to the BG’s and reach some higher levels, It might be worth starting out at a higher level, Sometime if your not getting a pay out you can drop down 10 or so levels and get a smaller payout but doing this usually yields less in return.
Hopefully this helps some of you, Like I said other’s do it differently and your welcome to take advice from who ever you chose but Jonar and I feel unless they have a couple hundred million in D then why listen to them lol
If you start consistently growing and you think you’re ready for the next level and have around 20 mil in D In the fortress then contact me or Jonar and we’ll get you some more advanced info but remember to not rise to high in your BG levels, Its important for the next step. As always any question contact us or ask in chat.

These can be found by searching internet.
FIRST OFF, This BG Calculator is set up with BASE TROOPS STATS!!!
Meaning Any extra boost to units = Better Results of BG Troops!!!
Above is a Look at a Set up Defensive BattleGround in this Calculator
Below is Two different scenarios Showing What NOT to use vs what TO use
Both Battles are using the EXACT Same Defense power
But you can see which is Way More Effected, because of the known Strength in the BG
Best Results = Nomads and Archers in this Scenario
